Roadwarriors Live Sound Panel Returns to AES Convention

New York City (October 9, 2003)--The second edition of the Roadwarriors Live Sound panel will take place as part of this year's Audio Engineering Society convention at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City. The panel will take place on Monday, October 13 from 12:30 p.m. -2 p.m. and will feature a quartet of touring professionals discussing the latest trends and issues that shape modern sound reinforcement.

The all-star panel will careen through subject matter ranging from gear to gossip, in what promises to be an entertaining and educational 90 minutes--with the engineers on the business side of the microphone, saying something besides "testing" and "check" for a change.

Scheduled panelists will include (alphabetically):

Jeff Dunn--Dunn has mixed a number of high-profile artists and was The Black Crowes' FOH engineer for most of their career. These days, he's the studio systems engineer/staff engineer at New York-based S.I.R., where he's occasionally mixed the likes of Foreigner, Christina Aguilera and Liza Minnelli, as well as numerous MTV tours and events.

Steve LaCerra--LaCerra is the FOH engineer for Blue Oyster Cult and has additionally mixed other acts such as Firehouse and Foghat in recent years. He is also a respected writer who has written for a variety of top audio-industry magazines.

Mark Newman--Newman has handled FOH duties for the Wallflowers, Blondie and Neil Finn...and that's just 2003 so far. A graduate of Full Sail Recording School, he's also mixed the likes of Lucinda Williams, Old 97s, Michael Penn, Double Trouble, the Black Crowes, and Jimmy Vaughan, among many others.

Jeff Priepot, who is the band monitor engineer on the current Shania Twain tour; additionally, he's handled monitors for Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Jars of Clay and others.

The panel will be moderated by Clive Young, news and live sound editor of Pro Sound News and author of Crank It Up, a look at what it takes to become one of the best concert engineers in the world, which will be published by Backbeat Books in March, 2004.
