AES Offers Education Fair

New York City (October 14, 2003)--Among a surplus of educational sessions at AES this year, the convention once again offered its popular Education Fair as an opportunity for students and prospective students to network within the burgeoning audio recording and education industry. The Fair was held Sunday (October 12), from 10:30-noon.

Roughly 40 schools around the country, including New York University, the University of Massachusetts Lowell and Berkeley College of Music in California are offering students an opportunity to learn about the schools' audio studies--with information on everything from short courses to graduate degrees.

"The Education Fair is a great opportunity for high school and college-age students to look at a lot of different programs at the same time and get a sense of which program might be ideal for them at a particular school," said Dr. William Moylan, chair of the AES education events.

Faculty members from each school attend the Fair, encouraging students to take a look at their school's offerings via literature and brochures spread across tabletops for passersby to grab.

"Typically, we have several hundred students who attend," Moylan noted. "Many are high-schoolers, but we also have some college students who are looking at alternative programs."

AES has been offering its Education Fair for a number of years, and "it's always very well received," Moylan said. There is no charge for schools to participate in the Fair, and admission is free and open to everyone.
