Stations in Over 100 Markets Set to Begin HD Radio Broadcasting

Philadelphia (October 15, 2003)--iBiquity Digital has reported that more than 280 radio stations encompassing over 100 markets have licensed the company's technology and have begun HD Radio broadcasting, or are in the process of converting. Cumulatively, these markets represent more than 145 million listeners or nearly two-thirds of the Arbitron-ranked, listening public.

As a result, the company now believes that it will easily exceed its initial goal for the year of licensing 300 stations. That will help to create significant awareness and initial demand for the widespread consumer introduction of HD Radio, which is slated to commence at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January.

"It is a phenomenal achievement to have reached this level of nationwide penetration prior to receivers even reaching consumers," said Robert Struble, chairman and CEO, iBiquity Digital, the sole developer of HD Radio technology. "Based on the size of the audience that we'll be able to reach as well as the wide variety of formats represented, we're extremely confident that the introduction of HD Radio receivers will be enthusiastically received by consumers."

Among the key metrics achieved to date by stations licensing HD Radio technology are:

Within each of the six cities--New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Miami and Seattle--previously identified by iBiquity as launch markets for HD Radio's consumer rollout, a minimum of 10 stations and up to 18 stations have already licensed the technology. Ten of the top 10, 17 of the top 20, and 34 of the top 50 markets feature stations that have currently licensed the technology. Stations in 35 states as well as the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico have demonstrated their commitment to HD Radio as well.
