AKG Bouys Altar

Northern Ireland (October 27, 2004)--Installer David Dalzell, of DL Electronics of Lisburn, has recently completed the audio refit of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Cathedral in Armagh, providing the church with a full range of AKG microphones.

A trio of floor-standing GN155SETs, coupled with top-of-the-line CK47 capsules, were stationed at the Bishop's chair, as well as at two additional floor points. In addition, two GN30E goosenecks with CK47 capsules were mounted on the ambo, with two further C747s on the ambo.

Dalzell explained, "The C747s and CK47 capsules provide us with greater gain before feedback in this highly reverberant environment and with the architects insisting that the microphones used be discreet, then the C747s were ideal for the altar. With all microphones being fitted with CK47 capsules, we had a system that provided excellent quality and reproduction from all positions. And, of course, the unique polar pattern of these microphones made them absolutely the best possible solution."

Dalzell also supplied three channels of AKG's WMS81 wireless, complete with C417 lavalier microphones. The three channels of wireless are powered by a PS81 antenna amplifier, which is fed signal from a pair of RA81B remote antennas, which are discreetly secreted high in the cathedral, far from view. A pair of HM1000 hanging modules with CK31 cardioid capsules over the choir complete the installation, assisting Dalzell's efforts to make the19th century cathedral one of the best-sounding houses of worship in Northern Ireland.
