Echo Mountain Rises

Asheville, NC (January 29, 2006)--Asheville, NC has been "on the map" among the hippest of mountain towns for years, and it just got even hipper. By happy accident, Steve Wilmans discovered Asheville and a for-sale 1920s Methodist Church, and saw his next venture: move to this cool town and build an awesome destination recording studio. Yes, this is a build-it-and-they-will-come business model, but in Asheville and under Wilmans' experienced watch, it has a good shot at becoming a creative hub for the area's almost overgrown music scene.

Manufacturers On The Mic

Acoustic Designers In Demand
New York, NY (November 2006)--Business is good each of the acoustic designers recently surveyed by Pro Sound News, despite the downturn in the once traditional large studio market. Greenwood Lake, NY-based Larry Swist of Lawrence P. Swist Designs says his business is "doing very well. We have more than doubled our client load from last year and have had to expand our staff accordingly to maintain and/or increase our expected level of client service and project management." John Storyk of the Walters-Storyk Design Group reports being simply "busier than ever," while Russ Berger says business for the Russ Berger Design Group is "strong across the board and surprisingly diversified.

Universally Regarded: Scott Silfvast Discusses UA's Desktop Console System
Santa Cruz, CA (November 2006)--Universal Audio has unveiled its Desktop Console System (DCS), a new concept and product line which initially includes the DCS Remote Preamp and DCS Monitor Master. The DCS modular family of products each combines a base unit with a DCS-Link-connected remote controller and can each be used individually or interconnected to form a multi-unit console. The first DCS product, the Remote Preamp, is scheduled to begin shipping in Q1 2007.
