Marines Go Wireless With PWS

Orlando, FL (June 15, 2007)--The U.S. Marines’ Combined Arms Command and Control Trainer Upgrade System (CACCTUS) program is upgrading its legacy communications systems used for field operations, and one element of this upgrade is a custom designed wireless system developed by Jason Eskew of Professional Wireless Systems (PWS).

PWS Intermodulation Analysis System (IAS), a proprietary software program that reportedly expedites frequency coordination.

“Our first assignment was the 29 Palms Training Camp in the high desert near Palm Springs, CA,” Eskew reports. “We generated a proposal in 2003, performed a site survey, built and tested the wireless training communication system in our Orlando headquarters and then installed the system on-site.” Early in 2006, PWS was enlisted to provide a similar install for Camp Pendleton in the rugged territory between Los Angeles and San Diego. Most recently, Eskew designed and installed a wireless system for North Carolina’s Camp LeJeune.

The installs were aided by the PWS Intermodulation Analysis System (IAS), a proprietary software program developed by Eskew to expedite frequency coordination for concert, corporate, sports, House of Worship and broadcast event installs. By combining a database of wireless performance equipment from any manufacturer, the IAS 4.4 system reportedly enables RF technicians to save valuable setup time. In addition to custom frequency spacing parameters for each wireless system model, IAS (www.professionalwireless.com/IAS) includes comprehensive group and channel assignments for any given piece of equipment.

An Air Force veteran, Eskew’s military training stood him in good stead with the Marine Corp. installs. “I speak their language, and appreciate their unique technical and hardware demands,” he says. ”Knowing the equipment capabilities and having an understanding of client needs enables me to help them through the selection process. Any design is a series of trade-offs. It’s my job to make sure that those decisions benefit the end user.

PWS worked on the proposal process with program manager Nancy Harmon, of the Marine Corps Systems Command. Bill White of the U.S. Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), collaborated with Eskew during the on-site testing process, and lead installation technician Earnest Rudolph of MKI Systems, worked with him on the ground installs.
